Crystal Hut Fondue - Whistler

My husband was new to snowmobiling, but the staff did a great job teaching him the basics and ensuring our safety on the mountain. The fondue meal at the hut was an interesting experience, where you cook your own meat and vegetables. If you are not familiar with fondue, make sure it's the right choice for you. Don't expect a high-quality meal, but go for the unique experience instead. The hut itself was cozy and the service was friendly. There was even a guitarist who took requests. Keep in mind that you can't drink wine if you're in the snow. Overall, it was an unforgettable experience for my husband and me, and we will always remember it when thinking about Whistler. If you're on the fence, I say go for it!

Even though this was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and we enjoyed the food and snow cat ride up, it was excessively expensive. The journey back to our hotel took 2.5 hours, leaving us with less time in the hut than expected. We rushed through a four-course meal in just 50 minutes in the cottage, barely finishing our dessert before having to leave. It would have been nice to relax with our family in the beautiful cottage instead of feeling hurried through each course. Despite being told it was baby-friendly, there was no high chair available, making it difficult and uncomfortable to eat with a baby on our lap. Disappointingly, our snow cat driver did not assist us when we disembarked, leaving us to help ourselves. We were also surprised by the mandatory 10% tip, as we did not believe the overall experience justified such gratuity, considering the high cost of over 300 S.

If you enjoy spending $300 a person for a five-hour dinner with a glass of poor wine and medium (best) fondue, this would be great for you! Unfortunately I do not; therefore my experience was very frustrating. My husband and I decided to try... this (as we have wonderful experiences with the mountain food in other ski resorts) and could not be disappointed. First, the cat is up over an hour and is very loud, bumpy and unpleasant. Secondly, when you arrive at the hut, you will be placed at a table with people you do not know to share food. Thirdly, you will get a small glass cheap wine for the price-day, if you want more, it will cost you extra! Fourth, food is simply not good; I would say it was the worst fondue I had in a restaurant. Fifthly, the whole event is just gimmicky. If you enjoy fine food, good wine and an authentic atmosphere, I would avoid this overpriced, time-consuming experience.

This was a great activity. Our guide Mac was great. Really let us enjoy the mountain on our trip up. It was fun to be on the ski hill at night and see all of the inner workings . The fondue on the top was good...but don 't expect a culinary experience. It met expectations for sure but go for the snowmobile ride up, and views from the top. Tip: dress warm, but don 't worry if you leave something at home they have plenty of things to borrow from snow pants to gloves (all in really good shape and clean).
