Bidrage med feedbackWith 200 restaurants in the Whistler village and its surroundings, our group had a tough task deciding which restaurants to go to. But with Il Caminetto, I think we missed the mark. Even for a large table (we had 15 people in our group) it took the kitchen more than an hour and twenty minutes to get our orders out. Clearly not a restaurant for parties with children. The food was OK but not spectacular, and the prices were by far the most expensive in our vacation. I spoke with a number of locals during our trip and without exception, everyone echoed our experience. A Very nice couple we met mentioned that there are better options out there like Earls and Milestones which we tried with better results.
We had great service and the food was very good. Our starter was tasty ( deep fried bufalo mozzarella), my main was excellent ( veal parmigiana) and my husband said his was good (sablefish) but nothing to write home about. The desserts were amazing! We highly recommend the Sticky toffee pudding and lemon tart! The only thing I would give people a heads up on is it is a pricey menu. I am not sure it's quite worth the price for some items but we were out for our anniversary and wanted to go somewhere that wouldn't disappoint. Highly recommend it!
Good food and interesting wine list, however service needs improvement. We had a good evening, after a fantastic day of snowboard but was disappointed at the poor attention from the staff. I would still say to give a try to the menu but don't expect much attention.
Probably the nicest restaurant and best food of our stay in Whistler but phenomenally expensive for what is basically Italian peasant food!!That said, everything we tried was cooked to perfection and service was superb. Worth a visit but make it more of a special occasion to match the price list.
I have dined here many times over the past twenty years. The food is wonderful and the wine list is terrific too. Our Italian friends weren't expecting to enjoy it but they raved about it as well and thanked us for suggesting it. (Incidentally, I have visited his cooking school in Tuscany -- "Delia" -- and if you ever get the chance you must go there if you love food. Very special place.)
