This was a last minute desire and I am completely satisfied! Would definitely order again and the staff was so friendly. Love it here!!!!
First time trying and everything was delicious!! Can't believe other restaurants don't offer chicken skins! Mmmmmmmmmmmmm... These were by far my favorite thing here. Affordable!
Easily my favorite Polynesian spot in Utah. I tried a bit of almost everything and it was so spot on. The katsu and pupu chicken were nice and crispy on the outside, and super juicy on the inside. Literally none of the meat I had was dry, including the short rib and teriyaki chicken. The mac salad was nice and flavorful and had good texture. This place has more variety than Mo Bettah’s, and was made fresh to order, which was apparent in the quality/freshness of the food. I also thought I didn’t love katsu sauce in general, but Island Grinds knocks it out of the park compared to competitors. The music, decor, and vibes were all on point too! Overall great spot. I loved that it’s owned by a local family as well. Mo Bettah’s has definitely slipped a bit ever since they got acquired and are expanding, but if you want your food ready immediately since it’s sitting under a lamp then go there I guess!
This is definitely a charming mom-and-pop restaurant with delicious food that will leave you licking your fingers! I'm so glad a colleague brought me here while we were in the area. The infamous PuPu Chicken paired with Kalbi short ribs is, in my opinion, the best two-meat combo they offer! Both dishes were incredibly tasty. The PuPu Chicken is probably the best Hawaiian-style fried chicken I've ever had, and the Kalbi ribs were tender and bursting with flavor, making you crave more with every bite! It would have easily earned a five-star rating, but the tables could have used a better cleaning and the overall tidiness of the place fell short. Nonetheless, we came for the amazing food, though the overall experience could definitely have been improved.
I'm really glad I gave this place a try! They offer the short ribs we were missing from Mo' Bettah across the street. The Katsu chicken here is also much better! I think they use thighs, which are more tender and flavorful. I’ll definitely be coming back from now on. Their sauces, especially the Katsu sauce and the one I don't know the name of (it’s something like Reissauce), are the best I’ve ever had. I hope they get plenty of support and that many people come in to help keep the business running!
