Mayfair Lane Pub & Dining Room

I was quite hungry at lunchtime so ordered the starter of the tomato, aubergine and parmesan tart followed by the beef pie with peas and duck fat potatoes. Both excellent, particularly the pie which was a proper pie in a dish with a puff pastry lid, and a generous serve. The drinks list is also comprehensive with good cocktails and a very nice house red wine (WA cab merlot) for only $8 a glass. The service was also very pleasant and efficient.

You can just tell that the owners of this place care about producing quality pub food. The menu is themed on quality British Pub food - all of which comes out in generous servings, piping hot and true to the British tradition of each dish (mashy peas and duck fat roast potatoes being classic examples). About one third of the venue has that fabulous West Perth easy going business style with outdoor tables overlooking a leafy street. The one downside is that if you get there late the remaining two thirds of the venue is workable, but a touch ho hum. Overall I'm a fan and frequently visit for food or just a drink.

This is my local as I live only 100m away. However since the name change (ownership and/or management as well?) it's gone downhill. What use to be a full glass of bubbly has reduced to 2/3 glass and little things like just taking my card without informing me of the cost is just rude. Food prices are sky high given the current economic climate and the competition. Just because times are tough is no reason to take it out on the customer. I can afford to pay but resent being ripped off in the process. Time to find a new local.

What a super place. Two very friendly and polite people looked after us and guided us to a great selection of tap beers. Our beef pies were well done with a lot of meat and gravy though we could have done with an extra couple of potatoes. And the place was very clean and welcoming. Thoroughly recommended for pub style food and drink.

This was a nice mid week surprise. We decided to pop in for a light evening meal and drinks with family and it didn't disappoint.It had a really good atmosphere.The staff were very obliging and there was enough choice on the menu to suit most palates.The burgers were very tasty.Additional bonus was we were able to use our digital entertainment voucher.
