I'm definitely bringing friends back to this place, if only for the affogato alone. The sign advertising it on the street pulled me in and I'm glad it did- for 3.80 they're not stingy with the ice cream OR the espresso, and it was unfathomably refreshing. Removing a star because I wish the spicy tuna onigiri was raw instead of cooked, like I expected when I saw it on the menu, but still delicious and a great stop nonetheless!
The neighborhood rests, restores and recharges in this excellent coffee house, run with great care and consideration by the owner, Mr. Q and his family. Interesting Japanese menu options, including Chicken Katsu salad (my favorite).
Cute and cozy atmosphere, very nice owner, and phenomenal drinks! I got the yuzu and ginger iced tea and an iced matcha latte. The yuzu and ginger tea is very refreshing on a hot summer day. There were small pieces of candied ginger in the drink as well, adding some more ginger flavor to the drink. The matcha latte was smooth and tasty. Some places *cough* Starbucks *cough* just add the matcha to the cold milk and don't bother to mix it well, leaving it powdery. This drink was mixed very well and had a very smooth matcha taste without the powdery taste.Stopping here is going to become part of my daily routine for sure!
I finally stopped by and ate here with my puppy! We sat outside. We ordered at the counter and the nice Japanese guy brought out my food and drink! This place is a gem to this Spanish speaking neighborhood! There's nothing else like it in the area! The LatinX neighborhood are so lucky to have this cafe to add some diversity to this cute, friendly neighborhood! The food was delicious! And the ice matcha drink matched my thirst on this hot sunny day! I'll be back again soon for more rice balls and takoyaki!!
