Bidrage med feedbackReally surprised to read all the poor reviews. We visited Loch Lomond and wanted to eat before going to the bird of prey centre nearby. The welcome was lovely, we were served quickly and the food was served after a very short wait. Five of us had jacket potatoes and one had a breakfast roll. The jackets were huge and piping hot and we could choose if they were served with crisps or salad. We all chose salad which was lovely and served with a delicious dressing. The bill came to £47 for 6 meals and 6 drinks which was very reasonable. Everyone was very friendly and we couldn't fault the service. I wouldn't hesitate to return. We were too full up for cakes afterwards but they had a very appetising selection.
We hoped there would be a marked improvement from our previous visit, but sadly this was not the case. The prices were very high, and the quality of the coffee and cake was not good. There was also no cutlery or napkins where we were directed to. Not a recommended choice to stop at!
Have read some of the recent reviews and to be honest it seems like I experienced a different cafe.Surroundings were clean but basic. Food was fresh and cheap, to be honest amazing value given the overpriced eateries in immediate vicinity. Basic cafe food. Menu is a mix of sandwiches and toasties etc... Nothing fancy. It's cheap and cheerful but hits the spot. Service was basic but sufficient given how busy they were and the amount we paid. Good for a cafe snack stop whilst out walking but not appropriate for those looking for a dining experience.
Like other visitors we probably thought of the Thornton brand. The food and coffee were ok, but we didn't get a friendly welcome. All the time other customers were complaining about the service or their orders to staff. Not a pleasant place to have a sit down and spot of lunch. We did find some good deals on Thornton's chocolates at the other end of the cafe.
This used to be an excellent cafe, which was well worth visiting, but sadly it has fallen on very hard times The food and coffee were both poor, and could not recommend visiting again Not worthy of the Thornton name!
