Bidrage med feedbackI recently dined at the main restaurant and had a terrible experience. The amuse bouche had a sharp, sour flavor that lingered throughout the meal. The starter was unimpressive and the main dish was even worse. Both steaks we ordered were overcooked, with one side burnt. We should have complained, but did not. It seems the food may have been left under the pass for too long while the chef prepared a disappointing peppercorn sauce due to running out of Stilton. How could a restaurant with only 3 covers run out of a key ingredient? The bill was nearly the same as the 3-course meal we had at Hix the night before, which was much better. We were in Lyme Regis for only two nights to celebrate my husband's birthday, and I am extremely disappointed and upset about the money we spent. When we expressed our dissatisfaction to the bar supervisor while paying, he seemed uninterested. This lack of attention to customer feedback may be the root of the problem.
We ate here as we were staying in the hotel (Royal lion) for a couple of nights and had a nice meal. We both opted for fish dishes and whilst the menu is not extensive we were both happy with our food and accompanying wine. The menu is reasonably priced compared to some in Lyme Regis and the service was good. The price of restaurants in Lyme seems to have increased significantly since Covid and availability is sometimes limited (staffing seems to be an issue here as with many places). The hotel restaurant used to be located in a large room on the first floor and had a more inventive menu although the room itself was a bit too formal for my taste
This restaurant exudes old-world charm and offers exceptional service and food. Upon entering, we were reminded of the type of restaurants our parents used to dine in or that we might have frequented back in the 70s. However, do not let that deter you - the food and service are top-notch. The atmosphere is very relaxed, and my wife and I were both enticed by all the tempting dishes on the menu. Although it is a set menu, there is plenty of variety to choose from. Most of the diners appeared to be locals, adding to the cozy vibe of the place. Despite initially booking reservations at five different restaurants in Lyme, two of them canceled on us just two days before our trip. The Oak Room was one of our substitutes, and we were delighted with our decision as it ended up being our second favorite dining experience during our stay.
The food at this restaurant was excellent, with a wide variety of options that were well-cooked and delicious. The staff were cheerful and very helpful, always willing to go above and beyond to assist with anything we needed.
Absolutely lovely food and atmosphere. We went in a group of 4 for an evening meal and the whole thing was perfect. The staff were very attentive. The food was beautiful thoroughly recommend the lamb dish. Couldn’t have asked for a better evening.
