Shave Cross Inn - West Dorset

An interesting old building with a facinating history. Lots of small rooms. Food good and staff very plesant. We were in our motorhome on a site nearby, and as the roads are very narrow the pub sends out someone to pick up and bring back excellent service. The pub is also dog friendly.

As the Shaves Cross is under New Management we dropped in for a couple of drinks and had lunch consisting of a Hog Roast Bap,Homemade Coleslaw and Roast Potatoes with Apple Sauce !! Such a difference from our previous visit ! Cold drinks,clean premises,great atmosphere with loads of visitors despite the poor weather!! Lovely Food ! Will definitely return again especially when the kitchen opens fully for food later this month

Beware! Worst meal we have ever had! The food was like warm, meat was chewy, gravy was basically brown water. The pub itself smells of cats and is dark and dirty. We should have listened to the many reviews of how bad the food is and not come here in the first place. The only redeeming quality was the host was very friendly however still Made us pay for our meals even though we didn’t touch them and mentioned how terrible it was. And to top of off asked us to leave a good review in lieu of a tip! Incredible!

Wonderful, home cooked Sunday Roast. I had the beef and my partner had the pork. Both were delicious and generous portions too. The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. I would definitely go again if I was in the area.
