Hotel & Restaurant Weisser Hirsch

We ate here twice in two days. The outside tables are a great location from which to "people-watch" on the picturesque market square. The food is very good and well presented, with meat, fish and vegetarian options. The service is friendly, efficient and makes a real effort to solve any "problems". I would definitely return.

We ate here and stayed overnight. It really cannot be faulted. Good room, good shower, good meal good breakfast and a reasonable overall cost. Of course the beds are "German" which for a double means two single boxes with single duvets. Make of that what you will! Do they not like each other?

Had two excellent meals here, thw quality of food and presentation as excellent . Had the Herbutus Suppe best consomme I have ever had . Had local venison and my wife had trout the next evening we both had goose. Certainly Cordon Bleu German Cooking . bit expensive but worth it.

Sat on the square and ate venison with lentils in a really really tasty rich sauce. You can watch the world go by while sipping an eponymous weissbier.

The half timbered hotel is situated in the market place opposite the town hall, actually the hotel entrance is down the side of the building. It is a 15 min walk from the station (good buffet ). Exit from the right hand corner of the bahnhof platz and use the crossing to cross the road.Turn right and follow the road which bears left. You will pass the fire station, an hotel with a model steam locomotive in it's window and the strange underground cross roads with it's "pill box ", pass the high school until eventually you will see bollards across the road, this is where the hotel entrance is. All the staff spoke English, they were all young, remember this was once East Germany. My room (328) had everything I wanted and was very large. however, being an atis room I was continually banging my head. I eat in the restaurant and found that the fixed menu (changed daily) was far better in choice and value than the a la carte. The restaurant is very busy and I reserved a table after breakfast every day. the breakfast had a good selection of dishes, coffee is served by the jug. I can recommend this hotel.
