Bidrage med feedbackCourse was in excellent condition for this time of the year. Hope to get to play again before the end of the year
Disappointed to say coming back for a second year was much less enjoyable. We enjoyed the course conditions overall but customer experience was severely lacking. There was no notice that the beverage shack on number 10 was closed (and you never pass near the clubhouse the entire round) despite an almost 90 degree day. Upon completing the round (at 3pm on a Sunday) there was no food not even a hot dog on the roller. When I asked the gentleman why there was no food, or someone with a beverage cart considering the shack was closed, he said “maybe you should apply for a job here, nobody wants to work” I said “that’s disappointing that nobody told us that when teeing off” he very glibly said “yeah, we’ll take it up with the management”. So I’m sharing my experience to let people know what to expect when coming to this course. Had hoped to continue making it an annual, or more, trip. 9 4 23 Addendum: Lori and Rob followed up with me by email and a phone call to discuss the issues we experienced I hope that boards well for the future direction because it really is a very enjoyable, and challenging, golf experience. Due to the follow up I revised my review to 3/5. Compared to last year, they paved the parking lot and some paths on course the greens are small but roll true and present a good test for someone looking to be challenged. You can try to fly the approaches to the hole or the fairways are so well manicured that you can play almost a links style bump and run if you prefer to take advantage of the course’s natural contours.
Galen Hall Golf Club is one of out favorite golf courses in PA. The history, layout and design makes for a challenging yet incredibly beautiful day of #golfjam fun. We hope to return again soon.
When the names Tillinghast and Findlay are attached to it, it’s no surprise that Galen Hall is a pilgrimage for golf course architecture fiends like me. It’s absolutely worth the trip and then some. It’s a one-of-a-kind course that calls for every kind of shot you’ve got in the bag. Every hole is something new. It feels like a rare time capsule of old-school golf that remains fresh and, above all, fun. The down-to-earth atmosphere and quaint countryside scenery can’t be beat.
Course is in pretty good shape and reasonably priced. The greens are as challenging as ever. Always enjoy GH.
