The At Lythe Hill - Waverley

We went to a family-friendly dinner at this restaurant. The staff was welcoming, warm, and accommodating. The menu had a variety of options and the food was delicious and well-prepared.

I ordered pumpkin gnocchi, but what arrived was dry blobs of mashed potato with Brussels sprouts. There was no pumpkin, and when I asked about sauce, the waitress pointed to my dry plate and said it was already there. My partner ordered trout with vermicelli but received salmon on ramen instead. The white wine was also warm. Despite it being February, half of the items on the menu seemed to be leftover Christmas dishes from the freezer without any additional cooking. I have not had a meal this disappointing in a long time.

Overall, this restaurant was not more than average. I had heard some negative reviews recently, so I was worried it would be terrible. It was not terrible, but it was just not good. Some positives: the children's menu is good and a good value for adults. The service was fast, although a bit too fast for a nice family dinner. The negatives: the glassware was cheap and not up to par. The food was cold and definitely not freshly cooked. The turkey escalopes seemed to have been reheated. The chips were freshly boiled, but the meals were served too quickly and were too cold to be freshly made. The waitstaff wore the same pair of blue gloves throughout the meal, which was unhygienic. The children's dessert was disappointing. The squid dish was missing the squid. The service was too speedy, making our dining experience rushed. Overall, the restaurant could be much better. They should either just be a pub serving reheated food or actually deliver on the quality of the meals they promise. I will not be returning.

I wish I read some of these reviews before booking. we would have had a better meal in the local pub. not a meal that they expect from haslemere of the premier location. haddock Scotch egg that had no squirting fish, but that was perfect. very big pigs...capture that might need a little more crunchy. pineapple, fresh but not roasted and caramelized as described. nothing that made it unusable, but disappointed by the standard consumption expectations of such a large location. the service was also very bad, the waiter was attentive and friendly, but obviously he settled down from his waiter colleagues.

Dreadful Breakfast I was invited to meet someone for breakfast, ordered a simple mushrooms on toast with a poached egg. You would think that was simple for a star hotel. Mushrooms were boiled I think (hard to tell, certainly not fresh) Toast was not...toasted just soggy wet bread from the watery mushroom… exactly! One mushroom. One poached was decent. Very poor. Certainly not cooked by a chef
