Holy Cow Deli - Watkins Glen

I stopped by for lunch and had two fresh subs that were quite enjoyable. The small meat market caught my attention and looked inviting, so I picked up two strip steaks to grill for dinner. The quality of the meat was exceptional—definitely the best we've had in quite some time. This place is absolutely worth a visit!

We had a family event to attend and were already late due to the long wait for our food. I called the restaurant and spoke with a woman named Kelly, explaining our situation to her. She suggested that I could come back and return the food to her, and that she would fix our order in five minutes. I couldn't help but wonder why this wasn’t offered to us in the first place. If not, she said we could hold onto the incorrect food and bring it back later that evening for her to remake it. Why should we need to hold onto food that was unsatisfactory after waiting an hour? Meanwhile, our in-laws, who ordered before us, received their food, ate, and even walked their dog before we got ours. We simply didn’t have the time to turn back around. I explained that we were on a tight schedule for an event and were nearly an hour away, making a return impossible. We were really looking forward to enjoying a great lunch, but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. To add insult to injury, our order of just two subs and chicken tenders totaled almost $45! It would have been more reasonable if Kelly had offered to have us come back sometime this week to remake the items that were incorrect, rather than asking us to hold onto those that were cold and wrong. Based on this experience, we won’t be returning to this restaurant again.

If you dine in, chips are included with your Philly sandwich. However, for takeout orders, chips are not included even though the price is the same. They were unwilling to negotiate on this issue. Aside from those oddities, it’s a decent deli overall.

Great sandwiches. I had The Godfather, it was excellent, and my brother had their cheeseburger. The cheeseburger is fantastic, they do it on a sub roll so it’s soft and delicious (perfectly cooked too!

Great place to grab a bite and fuel up before hitting Watkins Glen. They have more than just the typical deli sandwiches, offering cheese steaks, fried fish sandwiches (not frozen), and grilled chicken sandwiches. My favorite? The gluten free bread. I wish I would have asked what kind of gf bread it was because it was the best Ive had and was of normal size. Friendly service, too!
