Bidrage med feedbackBest bbq I had in my life! was just a few days in the city and both nights we ate in nickels grube bbq. If we're ever in the opposite, we'll come by.
The place itself is beautiful. Staff very helpful and polite. Food came out fast. The loaded tater tots were good. Everything else had no flavor. Pulled pork was a bowl of flavorless meat soaked in grease. The beans had a very strong ketchupy flavor that was strange. The pig wings (ribs) were stated to be smoked for hours then deep fried to be crisp. I tasted zero smoke on them, and they were also flavorless. Keilbasa was okay, tasted like grilled supermarket bought stuff. The chicken was also blah, and was pink on the inside. The water tasted like dirt and they were out of both red wines I wanted. If you are a BBQ lover I'd stay away.
If you like BBQ , this is the place. The food is great, the portions are big, and the service is great too .
The best BBQ we have had in the north east! Got sat within 10-15 minutes of arriving. They have outdoor seating so they can accommodate families with dogs. The ambiance and service was amazing!! We ordered the brisket and pulled pork combo with fries and Mac salad to share. We ordered a plate of the Buffalo Garlic Parmesan and Honey Chipotle Ranch wings. Our waitress, Jess, recommended the house made fries pickles that they are known for. We ordered a lot of food for two people!! Our food came out all at once, hot, and 10 minutes or less after we had put in our order. Everything and I mean everything was 10/10 delicious!!!! The best, juiciest wings we have had in a long time. So much flavor in every bite! And the fried pickles are a must!! Never seen pickles fries like this before, light and fluffy! We will be dreaming about this meal for a long time! Our dog Delilah was wiped out in a food coma after this meal! Thank you to Jess for giving us such an amazing experience at Nickels!!
TLDR: it's not good. If you've ever had real Texas BBQ, then you'll want to pass on Nickel's. Straight up, find somewhere else to eat because you won't find satisfaction here. The Entree: I got the Brisket meal. It's not the worst Brisket I've ever had, but it's bottom 3. The whole piece was one uniform color, forget about a smoke ring, and it was served with BBQ sauce (which is pretty much all you need to know about it's quality). The Sides: They weren't much better. Got the Mac n cheese, which lacked flavor and the baked beans, which tasted like they were mixed with conctrated tomato paste. The taste wasn't there but the texture was really what made me uncomfortable. The cornbread wasn't bad. The Ambiance: the place was actually pretty cool and the service was speedy and efficient and overall, above average. Honesty, if you're a BBQ snob, pass. But it can be a nice night out if you have lower expectations.
