Shoeless Joe's - Waterloo

Waited for our food an hour, this was a awful experience. This place is been run down I was informed this place is going through ownership change and probably will get better under the new ownership I hope because it’s a nice place. I had the chicken wings and they were good. My daughter gayer had a salad and she enjoyed it.

I typically have good experiences at restaurants, but this one was just slow. We arrived around 4:30 on a Sunday, which wasn't a busy time. The server took a long time to come to our table initially, and each subsequent visit was also slow. The food arrived lukewarm. The duck wings appetizer and Reuben sandwich were okay, but the chicken burger was a bit dry. It was the first time in years that I didn't leave a tip because I didn't feel like our server deserved one.

Upon arrival, the staff greeted us warmly. However, the table we were assigned to was sticky and obviously not cleaned. The service was slow and the food was terrible. I was shocked that our server never bothered to ask if we wanted more drinks, etc. I had to seek her out every time I needed assistance.

Absolutely terrible experience. We waited 30 min for a drink and 45 minutes longer for our food. We made a reservation for 10 So they weren't unaware we were gunna be there. My plate didn't come until everybody was done their meals. I asked for a box immediately because everybody was finished their meals. Two people at our table ordered a Reuben(included myself) which was supposed to have a deep fried dill pickle on it. Neither of them did. Our beers weren't garnished. We also waited 20 minutes for a bottle of ketchup. We had to go to the bar personally for water we asked for 15 minutes prior. And our server blamed the kitchen the whole time for missing plates. Absolutely horrible.

Working nearby, we have gone to this restaurant on a few occasions at lunch for a group celebration. Every time, there has only been one server for the whole restaurant during what is quite a busy period. Additionally, it takes 45 60 minutes before our food is delivered this is unacceptable at lunch when many people only have 1 hour; the food arrives sporadically it seems there might only be one person in the kitchen who can only focus on one meal at a time. This last time, several people had ordered burgers of different types, and the outsides were burnt well beyond that pleasantly grilled point. Other times I have been here with groups after work for drinks, and the service is also unacceptably slow. I will be recommending different locations in the future.
