Bidrage med feedbackKing Tin has moved to this new location on the ground floor of an apartment building. The map on some websites still locates it on King St. Service can be slow but the food arrives piping hot. They serve a buffet at lunch ($9.50) and Dim Sum on Saturday and Sunday 11 to 3. I haven't tried that yet. The menu is large and varied. There are many seafood dishes, casseroles and hot plates. The street is currently torn up (Aug. 2017) and the only way in is from Columbia St. Parking can be difficult as there are not enough spaces for all the families that meet here.
The lunch buffet food is very tasty, they kept the standard menu, sue my sweet sour soup, fried chicken wings, curry noodle sweet chinese chicken ,sweet -glutenous rice, other items, but the food is high in MSG
Visited the new locale when they first opened. It was just ok but I was certain it had potential after they got settled. The place was bright, clean and the room itself is a nice space. Bathrooms are very nice. We returned today for dim sum. Even though they advertise their dim sum until 3pm we had to order it a la carte as opposed to cart service as it was getting late (we got there at 2:20) which is totally reasonable and understandable. We chose 8ish items and were ready to wait the 15 minutes for items to steam. Food came out within 1 minute of us sending in our order. Basically, what they tried to serve us was leftovers from their cart service earlier in the day. There wasn't even an attempt to heat them sufficiently. The eggplant with black bean sauce (one of our favourites in any dim sum joint) was disgusting (not that we even attempted to eat it as it was ice cold and the black bean sauce was gelatinous as one would expect and had a thick skin from it drying out over the previous hour or so). Congratulations on being the first restaurant in the region I have ever walked out on.
New location, smaller space, somewhat smaller menu, but still better than the student-oriented Chinese eateries in W'loo. We had the "dinner for six", with steamed walleye (which the menu lists as "pickerel"). The steamed walleye was definitely the best dish of the meal, followed closely by the beef brisket casserole. We ordered steamed rice, as well, which curiously was not part of the dinner. For a group of our size, this set meal was a good choice - fair price, served quickly. They do not have a liquor license, which was disappointing.
This restaurant was really empty when we went but at 4:30 PM on a Monday night, what can you expect.
