Bidrage med feedbackThe food was delicious and the atmosphere was very pleasing. They have a good mix of meals prepared in-house and lots of good appetizers to get the meal started. They also offer some unique cocktails that go very well with all of the meals. The service was great and we left satisfied with the overall experience.
I was blown away by some of the dishes I had at Primrose. One thing I really like about primrose is it's a low key restaurant in a neighborhood. It's not in a busy area, so sitting outside on the patio was very enjoyable in the quiet neighborhood of Brookland. I would definitely recommend the gazpacho and the best salad. The tuna was alright, I'd pass on the chicken wings. The service was good and if it's a nice day it's really nice to sit outside.
Several weeks later, I still am forming my opinion about Primrose. I enjoyed it, but I found the food to be average, hence the tentative three stars. The space is cute, and it's a low-key neighborhood restaurant in Brookland. The brunch menu needs to be expanded a bit, as the options simply didn't speak to me. I ended up getting a burger, which was solid...but I've had better in DC. I also felt driven to the burger given that I wasn't feeling the other options. I might give this place another shot because there was a lot to like about it. To be continued...
Must say that we were very disappointed in our brunch experience today. Took my wife for her birthday brunch and the food and service were not up to the high marks our friends had shared when they recommended we go here. We ordered the Salmon Benny and the Pork Hash plus a **** Mary and a Mimosa. As you see from the pics, the chef can't cook a poached egg, let alone two of them. I would have sent the food back but no one ever came to ask how our food was. On top of this, we never got the biscuits with honey butter we ordered and had to ask to remove it from the bill. They apologized for the biscuits, but considering there was a $15 service fee already tacked onto the check, the meal was definitely not worth the $99 it cost us. There are so many good brunch spots in DC, unfortunately Primrose isn't one of them.
Charming little French-inspired brunch spot in Northeast DC. It offers a lovely alternative to the hectic DC brunch scene. The menu may be limited, but the flavors are delightful.
