Medaterra - Washington, D.C.

$25 entrees that were overloaded with overcooked starch. The lamb chops were caked in oil or fat (couldn't tell) and did not taste quite right. They were heaped high with rice and along with the meat tasted reheated. The chicken dish was loaded with greasy french fries. I was surprised that it had gotten such strong ratings (the reason I chose it). For sure not returning.

I had a wonderful time at this restaurant. The all day happy hour is perfect for those on a tight budget, like law students.

Had been excited to try an Egyptian restaurant after finding Medaterra on OpenTable. But upon walking in, we were told the restaurant had no drinking water available other than Pellegrino (but I don’t drink fizzy water). Ordered only appetizers, which were extremely small and not filling. Also wanted to try the pan seared filet mignon, as advertised on their website, but when we asked about it, we were told that they didn’t have that after all and that the website was not up-to-date. The servers were efficient and friendly, but unfortunately that’s not enough to convince us to go back for another date.

Slow service, very expensive for the quality of food. We ordered the appetizer player which came after main courses served. Convenient location and that’s it.

This was my first experience and it was great! Amina, our server, was incredibly fun and energetic. She made our night much better and she took great care of us too. The margs were pretty solid, the bartender, Maria made some pretty solid drinks for us as well. I will definitely go back!
