Bidrage med feedbackAlthough we booked on OpenTable, when we arrived at the restaurant, there was a private event going on. They did seat us at a too small table in the back of the restaurant. But it was chaotic, and just weird. Had to argue are way through the registration table for the event. Everyone was rude. Bad, bad, bad, bad, just bad. We decided to leave and had a great dinner at Morton's.
This is a poor review. I’ve dined at EDGAR on other occasions, and it has always been very good. However, on this occasion, I received a voicemail from the restaurant, not more than hours before our reservation time for our party of that Edgar would be hosting a private event and we would be moved to an annex area of sorts. They had a name for it that I cannot recall. Being too late to change our plans, we dined in a room that had more in common with a storage room than a dining venue. It was overcrowded, noisy, and the service was sluggish. Of the six dinners, five were very good and one was seriously below par. I have a bit of reluctance giving a poor review of what I hope stems from an uncommon circumstance. On the other hand, EDGAR might do this more frequently than I realize. We certainly paid for a fine-dining experience and received an overworked cafeteria-style one instead. The bottom line is that this is not acceptable.
Great food, several items on the menu were unavailable and there were no replacements for them. Nice atmosphere on the outside by the windows, a little cramped and could have used some updating, but otherwise enjoyable. Aggressive wait staff, so make sure you let them know when they can remove your drinks and plates.
Even though it was not crowded, it took me minutes to get any service. I order a starter which did come until our meal was delivered. The food was just okay. I had to ask three times for the check. It is a shame because the location and ambiance are good.
Well, the food was good. At least the food that we got. Edgar is near our office, so we've tried it a couple of times. Each time our attitude is well, maybe this time it will be OK Why do we keep expecting something different? Took minutes between the time we ordered and the time the food actually arrived. But just our entrees. The appetizers never appeared. Server blamed the kitchen. But that didn't excuse the fact that he never came back to the table to check on us or to apologize for it taking so long. And we had to point out that the appetizers never arrived. He then had to bring the manager over who had to verify with us that the appetizers never arrived. His response was they must have been delivered to another table No real apology. Nothing comped. At least we weren't charged for them LOL. Hope the other table enjoyed them It's too bad. The menu and food at Edgar are actually good. You would expect better service in the hotel restaurant at the Mayflower. But it has always been this way. Don't expect anything else. If you have all day, and won't be annoyed by terrible service, then by all means, enjoy the food!
