The Great American Bistro - Washington

The restaurant was closed when I appeared for my reservation. this was for a larger group to birthday, so this was very frustrating. the restaurant did not answer the phone when I tried several times, including the following day. open table must take it from its website if this restaurant is no longer open and should not take reservations.

Don't sleep on this place! The food here is outstanding! Service on point! Very clean! Decor on point! This is the perfect date and chill spot! We will definitely return!! Stop wasting your time going to brunch on U St or anywhere else! This is it!!! Come here and get your brunch on!! The lobster Mac and cheese is everything! Lemon pepper wings Omg! Shrimp and grits! Listen you can’t go wrong here!!!

Very poor experience on a Friday evening. Place was empty at 6:30, but the kitchen was out of half of the menu items. At one point, our party was told that “the chef has it, they just don’t want to make it” when an order was placed. Shocking stuff, and the food that we finally could order wasn’t nearly good enough to justify the price. Crossing this place off of our list.

We stayed nearby in an Airbnb and were looking for a close by place to eat dinner. This far exceeded our expectations. I would eat there again if I were in DC.

The entire staff at the Great American Bistro was superb. The Host that greeted us, our Waiter was very attentive and excellent. The Executive Chef came out and introduced himself. The food was served timely and absolutely delicious.
