Bidrage med feedbackI stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and was a bit worried because the place was empty, but I needed to rest and grab a drink so I settled here for a bit. First, service was super friendly, and everything hit the spot. Got some good beer and then decided to try the ribeye and cheese sandwich, omg it exceeded all my expectations!!! Not super cheesy, but just enough cheese melted to perfection. The beef was just the right amount, and it came in a banh mi baguette that was super soft with a crunchy crust. Even as I chatted with the bartender and let it cool, the sandwich was still perfect. So glad I stopped by, would totally return next time I'm in town.
This is not The Carving Room as it is meant to be experienced, but a version of the restaurant as it must be during Covid times. The menu is smaller, it wasn't crowded at lunch on a Saturday, and the glass cases that I assume once held food are empty. That being said, they are open for business and certainly deserve it. We were in the area and knew of this place from their time in DDD a few years ago. It was a perfect spot for a good sandwich or brunch option with fantastic friendly service. We loved a starter of Cigars. I could have eaten a main dish if that with the sauce. One of us had the Pastrami Poblano which was very good, although the egg could have been runnier. Two of us had the Pastrami Reuben which was very tasty. A problem we had was a very generous amount of fat on the pastrami which we did not care for, although others may. Overall it was a great spot for our family and we would return when in the area.
Carving Room is a solid joint to grab a burger/sandwich in this part of downtown D.C. Their staff is very helpful and happy to give you recommendations on their huge menu. You can see the open kitchen and the employees chopping up big slabs of meat so you know your meat patties and made fresh. Since I was a first-timer, I went basic (doing a litmus type test) and ordered the Carving Room Burger (cheddar, swiss, bacon onion compote, mixed greens, sriracha mayo, on brioche). It was delicious and disappeared quick. I ordered it medium well, but it came well-done. That's alright and it was still good, but my recommend is to order the doneness one level less than you actually want (like most places that ask for your doneness preference). The fries weren't bad and maybe could've been better seasoned. Overall the food was tasty enough for me to want more another time. Next time I'll have to try the Reuben everyone is talking about!
Simply awesome Great food and service The quality is impeccable You will not find anything like that You will find me there all the time
Great spot for afternoon drinks and a quick burger! After walking the mall, my girlfriend and I were thirsty for a refreshing drink. We stumbled on the carving room which is conveniently located next to Wise Guy Pizza . They have an outdoor bar with frozen drinks. We decided on a mojito and frosé frozen rosé . Each drink was $10. Just note that you have to order food with your tab. The cheapest menu item is fries $5 , but the hostess was generous enough to offer us cookies for 25 cents! We got blueberry and lemon ricotta cookies fresh out of the oven. Yum!
