bluebird Kitchen and Bar - Warwick

Went in for lunch on a Friday. Only two couple inside, and a few people outside. Many dirty dishes on the tables, only two clean tables. We sat at one and waited almost 10 minutes before going up to the counter to see if we had to order there - we were told it was table service. We waited some more. Another couple came in and got a water bottle and glasses served to them. We were still waiting. Another couple there before us were served their drinks and the server apologised for the food being late - we had not been served by anyone. We left after 25 minutes, the last five minutes deciding if we should stay or go. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants in Warwick, and we had heard the Bluebird was good. Well we will never go back there again. Menu looked ok but limited. We noticed four staff members, not one of which was attentive to realise we were waiting and waiting. Decor was so so.

Called in on our way through for a quick bite to eat. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful; immediately acknowledged out presence and served us quickly. Decor is a bit stark and eclectic; food was fresh and delicious and reasonably priced. Table service a bonus. Easy parking in the side street and plenty of seating inside, as well as outside if you prefer.

We had a great night at bluebird. We'd been there once before a couple of years ago just after it opened, so it was great to go back. The degustation menu was interesting, very tasty, generous, and a great way to share a meal. The service was friendly and the Fern Brothers played great music for 3 hours pretty much non-stop. Thanks to the whole team for making a very busy night a very enjoyable one for us all.

We've been here previously and our second visit did not disappoint. Interesting contemporary dining in what was once, I guess, a corner petrol station. Good wine selection too. Also cosy on a chilly Downs evening. Check for the closing time of the kitchen if you plan a late arrival.

We usually manage breakfast or brunch (which is always great) here but 'did' dinner last night...absolutely great food. great service . very small but adequate wine list (BYO wine only- corkage is $7.50). on a cold night on the southern downs this is a 'hot' venue.
