Bidrage med feedbackWe thought we had lost the best family-friendly restaurant in Newcastle, but we discovered that they had relocated to The Gardens. The garlic prawns are the best you will find, and our kids absolutely love going to "THE WOK" for dinner.
We have been living on the Gold Coast for the last 10 years and have had to return for personal reasons , we used to eat here at the "WOK"regularly and it is so good to know that this wonderful cook and his wife are still doing what they love best ,cooking superior food with all the warmth and personality that these beautiful can deliver , the decor is not remarkable ,but who cares the food and the experience is what matters most and the Angsara Wok delivers in spades ,if you miss out eating here you are really doing yourself a disservice !!! Thank You So Much Margurite and Alex .John and Gina .
A noticeably unpretentious restaurant, what the Angsara Wok lacks in decorative style it more than makes up for with its flavour-packed Malay/Asian meals. Table service is efficient, helpful and gracious. Lots of dining options including many noodle dishes and plenty to choose from for vegetarians, too. If you say you like chilli, they don't hold back. The Malay-style chicken curry was great but be prepared to get your fingers dirty. Maybe a finger bowl would help. No problem with additional servings of rice - you don't even need to ask and these appear. Meals are very reasonably priced and of a healthy size.
This place has been are regular of ours for 30years !! The food is amazing and the service delightful. The atmosphere has changed due to the relocation but it's always great for a takeaway too.
On arrival it was obviously popular with many people and families with children inside. We were greeted by the hostess, a lovely lady, who advised on booking and calling the day before to let them know what meat(s) would be required for dishes the next night. Two of the party required Gluten Free meals. On arrival she simply said the gluten free people, so they were prepared for us. The menu was simple but there were many choices and they were able to do the gluten free and vegetarian dishes we were interested in. Malaysian Pepper Beef - yum! It did melt in the mouth. Lemon Chicken , ginger and shalotts - Delicious - taste the lemon and the fresh ginger!! yum! yum! Vegetable Fried RIce - another Yum! Vegetarian flat rice noodles with soy , sorry can't remember the name but it was spicy and also yum! Very pleased with the meal and the welcoming staff and owner. Long time here and with a regular customer base. It is not surprising.
