Castle Cafe - Wakefield

Run down cafe found a hair in the desert. Staff very miserable. If you visit this castle do not waste your money bring your own drink and food you have been warned. Steer clear!

We are a family run dog friendly is how it is described . Not exactly our experience based on today . Over the past few weeks I have visited the cafe with my young anxious cockapoo. Progressing to sitting inside . The girl with long dark hair been kind enough to say when he’s wined not to worry they are all young and have to learn . Today as a family we choose to visit for Sunday breakfast after walking round the castle . We chose a table in the corner . Our dog with it been busier was slightly more anxious than normal and started to bark , still sat with us we attempted to calm him down. From within the cooking kitchen area came the shout across the cafe of stop your dog from barking . This for all the cafe to hear . The embarrassment I and my family felt for everyone then looking in our direction made me anxious , which our young dog picked up on . Then trying to over fuse him to stop and picking up on our anxiety he barked again. To be yelled from the kitchen area again . At this point my husband took him outside to sit. We then all choose to eat outside (no issues with the food at all was very nice . When a lad did come to see if food was ok , I expressed my distress at been shouted at across a counter for all to hear instead of the gentleman who chose to bellow at us coming to our table and asking us to keep him calm . No apology or acknowledgment to what i was saying was made . The whole experience means no matter how good the food is we won’t be returning. The issue been how we were spoken to , or should I say yelled at.

Popped in for a quick lunch after a long walk with my Husky! Very friendly staff, welcoming, very fast service and lovely food ! They even accommodated my husky’s sausage lunch- highly recommended

Been in a few times. Always good. Bacon, egg sausage sandwich this time. Carrot cake for afters. All fine. Service good.
