So after reading all the Yelp reviews and my co-worker talking about how their fried noodles were so amazing, I had to try this place. I read that when they run out, they run out so get there early. So this past Saturday when my son decided to get up before the sun did, I decided we would run down to get some fried noodles. We got there 10 mins before they opened, and there was one person in line. By the time they opened, there were at least 8 or so people behind us waiting. I wasn't sure how much noodles actually came in an order, so I just went with a large for me, my husband, and little boy. It was $7.85. When we got home, that container was packed!!! It ended up feeding all of us very comfortably with no leftovers. As for it being the best fried noodles, I can't say that I agree with that. It was really good, probably in the top 3 fried noodles I have tasted in my lifetime, but there was this sweetness I didn't like. I don't think it was from the char siu, or even the sauce or seasoning they use in the mix... I think it was part of the noodle itself. It was like a sugar sweetness. Very light, but still enough for me to crinkle my nose a little. I still enjoyed the noodles and would come back if I was in the area again. Good flavor, very generous portions for the price!
Hashi took over the space last March (2020), and I've heard some positive reviews since then. Finally, while taking a trip to the local landfill, I spontaneously decided to stop by in the afternoon. Luckily, they were open with no line, but they had run out of everything except for a tasty order of fried noodles, some chow fun, a piece of fried chicken, and some cone sushi. I decided to order everything. The cone sushi was good, as was the fried chicken. However, the chow fun was overly salty—there was so much shoyu that you could see the brown streaks in the noodles. The fried noodles were decent but didn’t fully satisfy my craving. It was interesting though, as they topped them with some kind of Char Siu bits that I had never encountered before a manapua. Overall, it was a positive experience, and I plan to return someday. Perhaps I’ll wake up early and brave the line, but for now, I’m in no rush.
We tried the Bento for the first time and I would give it a 5-star rating for their noodles, fried chicken, and teriyaki. Everything was delicious! We also discovered the best shortbread cookies there.
Still my number one choice for the best baked noodles in Oahu! I've been a fan since fifth grade, and now at 62, it remains a must-visit whenever I'm back. Thank you, Sato! Mahalo!
