Rustic Eating House - Waiouru

The best pitstop on our journey to Wellington! This place is amazing from the minute we walked in - cozy and artsy ambiance, friendly staff, and awesome Christmas decorations with three trees each decorated in a unique and quirky style. Just for the atmosphere alone, this place is worth a visit. But then the food arrived and it was even better. My wife enjoyed a delicious chicken salad, and I had one of the best rib eye steaks I've ever had. The sauce that came with it was superb! I highly recommend this place and we will definitely be returning!

I absolutely loved dining at this restaurant! When my plate arrived with a 400° stone to cook my rib eye, I was a bit overwhelmed at first. However, I managed to cook it perfectly, and I must say it was one of the best pieces of meat I have ever had! The 250g piece had some fat, but it helped prevent overcooking and I loved watching the fat melt on the stone. The concept was very cool. The red wine sauce was absolutely delicious and the salad served with the meat was very tasty. Although the dessert was a bit pricey at $15 for a pie, it was still very good. The staff was extremely welcoming and I am so glad I discovered this place.

We had a wonderful afternoon tea for two at this restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised to be served on elegant English bone china cups, saucers, and plates. Our table next to the fireplace was cozy and warm, which was perfect on a cold day. The tea selection was extensive and delicious, and we even had real raw sugar in a cute pot with a lovely teaspoon. The staff was friendly, always smiling, and provided excellent service.

Nice place we had the chance to stop there on our road from Wellington to Gisborne. Real good house cooking, stove warming, comfy atmosfere. Everything we needed to continue the journey. Thanks You all!
