Small stall inside Mercado near river. Amazing bacalhau (COD) fritters. House red wine is also excellent for €2 per glass!! Highly recommended for lunch

We ordered pigs cheeks and bacalhau fritters and the food wasn’t the quickest to arrive but it was freshly prepared and the pork cheeks were divine. They were melt in the mouth and I want that recipe. Very good bacalhau too, but overshadowed by the pigs cheeks which were divine.

Ignore those touting by the riverfront and head for the red coloured Mercado. There are tables outside at the back too if you want to be outside. Simply delicious lunch for 2 with a drink under €20. Lose yourself for an hour with great music and sampling local cuisine...that's why you are here isn't it? Fine dining in the evening is OK but make the effort to seek this place out. While we were there 4 market staff sat nearby for their lunch. That tells you something.

Local cuisine restaurant with good choice of meals. Everything local and I had the most delicious pigs cheeks with chips.

Cute, quirky little place for a great snack or full meal of homemade and traditional Portugese foods. Wonderful, personal service from the owners who took time to explain each item and make thoughtful recommendations. We really liked the soup, cod cakes, cold meats, beans . Delicious chocolate cake for dessert. Have to mention , too what a great playlist of music they had!
