Bidrage med feedbackI never write bad reviews, but this needs to get out. I would give it no stars but I see the potential of the place. I had the worst sushi of my life! We went here for lunch and the restaurant was well visited. We were sure the only foreigners. This should not be called a sushi restaurant as it is an insult to this amazing Japanese food art. This sushi restaurant is the worse I have experienced in my entire 60 years life, including 20 years in Duesseldorf, a city with a large number of excellent sushi restaurants. But here the positive points first. Our waiter! I think Irvin was his name. A young, highly motivated man, Nepalese by origin, he speaks English and Portuguese fluently and was the highlight of our two hours stay in this place. Second positive point is the design of the restaurant. Really very tastefully done (except for the plastic flowers) and the bathroom is spotless. Looking into the menu I could not figure out the items on the mixed platters and followed poor Irvin’s recommendation. The menu did not clarify the items of this order. Here came a platter with items that I could not identify. My fist bit was an overcooked, hard peace of chicken covered with a sweet, crispy coat. Disgusting! Why on earth do you put chicken into my sushi without telling me? But it became worse. The next item contained chocolate and fruits. I almost spit it out. Frankly speaking a disaster. I didn’t dare to try the items where I could clearly identify thousand island dressing, mayonnaise and jam. How deep can you sink as a Japanese chef here! I asked Irvin to tell this to the kitchen and replace all items that were not related to authentic sushi. He took my plate with at least 10 items lift untouched and apologised. A minute later he came back with the same plate and told me the kitchen would refuse to change the items as the choice was mine and they had delivered accordingly. Needless to say that Irvin was very embarrassed and only because of him I left it there. Apparently, the boss or chef could not bother less to take my complaint or even show his face – that is an insult to your guest, in this case to me! Who ever is responsible for this should ever be in this business! Then I ordered something that looked like a California springrole on the menu (no price indication) but turned out to be just Tuna and rice mixed through and stuffed into the nori leave; no garnishing. It tasted not bad but was boring and without any of the Japanese finesse, proudness or passion that you would expect here. The sashimi I then ordered (topped with a sweet nut and mayonnaise which I cleared off) was excellent. The bill stated the drinks correctly but not the food. As my husband had been to the dentist the day before he only had a miso soup. The bill stated: Almoco 2 x 13.90 and a total of 27.80 Euro. I would have never complained if – who ever was in charge – would have simply taken my complaint in a professional manner and not shown such arrogance! Irvin, you are too good for this place. Run!
Good quality for money! An excellent service, quick, friendly and the Sushi is very very good! One of the best All you can eat sushi restaurants I've been to.
I didn't particularly like any piece of sushi I ordered. The pieces were of poor quality and not made with care. It just didn't look like sushi. I also tried several menu items crepes , breaded shrimp and Chinese food) and I didn't like it. The prawns were not crispy and soaked in grease. The food was not seasoned well or made with care. The staff were friendly but, in general, for those who enjoy sushi and or Chinese food, I wouldn't recommend it.
A Pleasant Sushi Surprise in Famalicão As a sushi connoisseur, I quickly discovered that finding quality sushi in Portugal can be an arduous and expensive task. Although the sushi itself did not reach the status of incredible, not even close, the whole set that accompanied the meal made this experience worthy of mention. From the outset, it is important to point out that the accompaniments that joined the sushi were true stars of the meal. With the exception of wasabi, whose authenticity is a rarity almost everywhere, each complementary element took the dining experience to another level. The harmonious combination of flavors and textures demonstrated a genuine concern for quality and creativity in the presentation of the dish. The quality-price ratio proved to be acceptable, taking into account the set of meals served. I also highlight the impeccable service. The friendliness and excellence shown by the service staff was remarkable. It is undeniable that people from the north of the country have a natural talent for taking care of the customer and creating a welcoming environment, which certainly contributed to making the meal even more memorable. I recommend this experience in Famalicão. While sushi may not have achieved the best status, the elements that accompanied it, the delicious soup and exemplary service make this place a worthy choice.
