Bidrage med feedbackStayed here for 3 nights on a short visit. Booked quite ahead of time and they emailed me asking if I would pay using the same card that I booked with. I said I would. Had some travel problems and reached this hotel at about 1:20pm (check in was at 2pm). Their site said that they’ll charge extra for early check in and i was willing to pay the extra charges as I was really tired. At check in, the reception said that it was noted that I’ll be paying with my husband’s card (I’m not married). I gave my own card and explained that it was my card and it was the same one used for booking. After payment and everything I was told that the room was not ready and I had to wait for 30 minutes. I decided to wait in the lobby. At 2pm, I had not received my keycard yet so I went to the reception to enquire if my room was ready. The lady(who had been there before) asked me for my name. I explained that I had already checked in and was waiting for the room. Please note that the reception is in plain site of the lobby where I had been sitting for more than half an hour! Another lady then checked and asked for my husband’s card. I gave her the receipt and told her that the room was paid for already and with my card. I really don’t know what the confusion was about. The thing is there were about 5 other check ins while I was waiting and they all got their rooms immediately! The room was rather small (travelling solo so was suggested a single room). They had this fancy list of pillows available. On the second night, I asked for a pillow from the list and was told he’d have to check the store. He came up to the room within 3 4 mins and said the pillow I requested was not there so he gave me another pillow of the same kind that was in the room. Another problem is that the shower stall did not drain properly. Other than that, the location is excellent! Walking distance to so many places and with the underground train just steps away. Decor of the place was also excellent. I guess next time, I’ll just stay in a hotel nearby lots of choices!
Rooms are well appointed with amenities such as a small refrigerator and appropriate toiletries. The bathroom tub/shower area is small by American standards but is quite adequate. The staff was knowledgeable and quite willing to provide us with restaurant recommendations. It is located in walking distance to many restaurants and the major shopping area in Vienna as well and government buildings and parks.
We have landed here because we had booked an arrangement with dinner in another Gerstner hotel and, since that hotel has no own restaurant, were sent to the hotel de france for the 3-course menu. Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed by the commanded. First we have the A-La-Carte menu cards, but they just moved in because we have a fixed menu. next, we were served a false drink, which we still looked over and drank. the selection between two main courses - tomato paste or sprinkle - was not exactly intoxicating. In view of the noble settings and the high prices, we would have expected something more refined. the served feeds were moderate to good, with the exception of the salate, which was most inconveniently unedible (pieces with brown-smooth edges, plus only a few drops dressing).) the salate was a grace and we also complained to the staff about it. the dessert was served on unclean tellers (smoky and with fingerprints) and also tasted more moderately.
We returned forour 30th Wedding Annibeversary for te first time since honeymooning her in 1990.I let the hotel know how special it was and had an email back but on the actual stay and our anniversary I mentioned it again but met with no interest. I was sooo disappointed as I hoped for a little recognition or a treat? The hotel itself is OK but not as it was30 years ago and I really don't think 5 star anymore. The hotel manager hads been very nice and understanding but sadly it;s ow toolate a sthe special moment has passed. Overall I'd say very good breakfast/ tired rooms/ very poor mini bar and tea/coffee facilities but an excellent location for transport links to the rest of Vienna and surroundings
We picked this hotel based on location which was great didn’t need any public transport to get around. Facilities were clean and rooms spacious. We had 2 single beds which was a bit of a shame on our double room booking we expected a double bed but wasn’t the end of the world. However pillows were soooo thin we had to bump up with blankets to sleep on! Could of done with a nicer pillow! And a bigger duvet as it was very small. But all in all nice breakfast and clean room, excellent location. Would stay here again!
