Gusmano - VIAREGGIO

I've been eating here for 2 hours...the food is incredible, from antipasto to main dish. I really recommend this restaurant.

If you want to experience the best food in Viareggio Gusmano is the place... a family business where tradition never dies. The restaurant is in the city centre, it is spacious and bright, a big arch allows you to observe the chefs in the kitchen doing their magic with rigorously local supplies. The waiters are professional and helpful and the food is incredibly tasty. In addition, the chef accommodated a full vegan menu for one of the members in our family, great customer service! Highly recommended!

Nice service, good food but small portions. The price was too high for what you get. To go there once is more than enough. I have eaten better quality fish for less.

Best seafood with linguine I have ever had. Excellent seafood, seafood with grain, luscious unlabeled house wine, and they allowed our greyhound into the restaurant! Delicious warm sautéed fruits with vanilla ice cream for dessert.

When in Rome... (or elsewhere in Italy) one can--politely--ask locals in Italian for information. Italians will not feel awkward about this. So, asking someone for a good place for eating fish will generally produce information one can trust. This is how our attention was drawn to Gusmano, which is located at the southern end of Viareggio. The food was superb: the pasta with shrimp and truffle was a dream, as was the simple caprese entree with very tasty ingredients. The Muller Thurgau offered as the house white was excellent, certainly in combination with the meal. Gusmano (and his wife) were quite friendly (and patient) and will no doubt welcome (more) tourists if they behave as courteously as they do.
