Bidrage med feedbackWe stayed there on the way out of the Versailles Palace. I saw a nice place, a few people inside, the staff was nice. Menu seemed to be somewhat limited, we ordered a chicken burger, a beef burger, two plates duck jam, and a plate... duck breast. The burgers were simple and did not even contain tomatoes and salad while they drown in mustard. The duck breast was overcooked, not seasoned and had a strange taste. The duck jam was the same with a terrible strange taste and seemed to be frozen for ages before they were cooked. We also ordered a Caesar salad and a garden salad to start and they were only sorted chopped vegetables on a plate. The salads were not mixed and the chicken in the salad was strangely marinated and didn't taste good. The overall service was okay, but the food was awful.
Three of us came for an early dinner as we had just arrived from the US long day. We dined outside. The food was just ok. I ordered a hamburger and frites very average and it needed seasoning. The young waiter was a...nice and prompt. The problem was that as soon as our meal was finished, we were asked to relinquish our table even before the wine was finished so others could be seated. That's pretty outrageous considered the restaurant staff directed us to our table to begin with and there were open tables inside. Don't bother with this place go across the street.
We were hungry and tired by the time we got to his restaurant. We were also quite jetlagged and they were still serving food despite the 3 pm time. The kids both had spaghetti carbonara which was quite creamy but the meat was very soft....My husband I both had duck dishes that were good if not particularly original. The overall price was good, service was fine and we were happy to have the chance to sit inside and eat a good meal as our first restaurant meal in France on this trip.
Not a gourmet place, but a number of interesting items on the menu that apparently are typical dishes of some French regions. Based on how quick it came, probably pre-cooked and coming from a microwave. Overall, a good option for an affordable lunch or dinner...in Versailles.
