Bidrage med feedbackThis place is a bit hidden. We found it by accident. Because it said Gentleman of Verona and we thought it was a gentleman's club but it is in fact a hotel. The hotel has a nice garden and this cute restaurant. We had lunch there which was fabulous. The waiter was knowledgeable with the wines and his recommendation was perfect. His English was good enough to explain the dishes and the background of the wines. The chef cooked the pasta with the rabbit ragout to perfection and the time for the pasta with bottarga was worth it. We can recommend this place and we will definitely be back for a romantic dinner.
We chose this location by chance, they offer seats outside in the courtyard or inside in a nicely old fashion styled dining bar ambiance. Every detail is looked after. The service is prompt and professional. The menu seems as if is daily changed based on the market offering. I had a Piedmont raw meet with a delicate mustard sauce, and tried some gnocchi. They also seemed to have a good selection of wines.
Showed up at 1:30 for lunch, only one other couple. We ended up thinking they had an entirely new crew, or just didn’t care. Our salad arrived — I needed to find the waitress for oil and vinegar. My husband and I ordered at the same time, but after my pasta arrived, he was informed they didn’t have the shape they had promoted. We waited and waited, and he was finally served barely cooked spaghetti with his sauce. We are pretty easy going, and he’s never once sent anything back, but this was inedible. So I tracked down the waitress again and again we waited and waited. We were just getting our coats on when it arrived. Slightly underdone, but edible this time. The bill was breathtaking, with three small servings of prosecco totaling over half the bill. Maybe it was an off day. Dunno. We won’t be going back.
All waiting staff and chef were amazing... food to die for... so so fresh and nicely presented only place we got pizza bread and olives for starters that were free... so good would defo be back for this meal. we had the veal milenasi (spelling) with lemon sauce omg so good and had the mussels to start, so plump and so many yummy...
The inside is very cosy with few tables. the decoration are aligned with the atmosphere of a bistrot. the positive stops here. the music background is a radio! and not of a classical music. the waitress is speaking out loud and running around disturbing what could be a romantic dinner. the menu is limited but clearly shown at the entrance. the food served is the worst i have tried, even compared to a pizzeria. we took some entrees, very common and presented in a disastrous way. the food seemed not freshly made. then we took a chicken filet and ask for french fries. all came in the same plate and was given Tabasco to eat with it. i can do it better. then we took a tartare. looked like a dead piece of meat in a cubic form without any condiment, and cold. horrible. as impossible to eat we ask to change to a filet of beef. asked medium, it came almost raw and cold. horrible!. i will not mention a Cognac that was a poor grappa instead. the only thing acceptable was the wine from a list not updated, hopefully not produced by them. and for all of this 100 Euro. conclusion: a disaster costly! i would never go back and recommend to everyone to avoid it.
