Bidrage med feedbackVisiting Vernon for a drive around the valley, and we had a hankering for sushi. Saw this place and decided to give it a shot. At first, I thought it was closed there being nobody inside (Friday at lunch). But it was indeed open and we went in. Decor is a little sparse and unsettling; wasn't as welcoming as it could be. But the proprietor was very friendly and welcoming. Sat us at a table and we ordered Bento boxes. I was sure the menu said two prawns came with the tempura but I only got one. So I asked for a menu to make sure but the menu I got the second time around said one prawn. I think I originally got an unaltered menu. No matter, the tempura was crisp and fresh, the prawns firm. Sushi and sashimi were well prepared. The gyoza was small and non-descript. Miso soup was typical as were the edamame beans. Salad was drizzled in a funny purple dressing, atypical for this type of salad. Interestingly, the sashimi is typically served on a bed of stringed, fresh radish but ours were on dried, uncooked, rice noodles. Looks the same but completely wrong. We brought it to the attention of the mom who owns the restaurant. She explained they had no radish and used the noodles as a substitute, profusely apologizing the entire time. Weird...Price is average for what you get. Bathroom is very small but clean. All in all, an average meal for an average price in an average establishment. Three stars.
I was seated and never saw her again. The fellow making sushi finally came to take my order (Teriyaki chicken Bento box) and when it finally arrived quite some time later, my tempura was cold. I was missing a prawn tempura. The spring roll was the size of my pinkie finger. The sparce few pieces of chicken were resting on a bed of shredded cabbage, NOT rice and the California roll could not have been smaller! I could tell my meal was not made with care.I went to use the bathroom, and the door knobs and light switches were filthy. I noticed everyone in the restaurant had to wait for everything; food, service, cheque, and to pay. They were not that busy, but simply understaffed. Two people can not run this restaurant. I will not be back, there are far too many better choices for Sushi in Vernon
Ordered chicken bento box.. four pieces of undistinguishable meat on a bed of fried onions. worst ever, and I have been eating at Japanese restaurants for 25 years!
Good food.priced right.. With quick, friendly service .We ordered an assortment of dishes, and all were very good. It is the go to Sushi place in Vernon
I spent a few days in Vernon and stopped in here for lunch. The food was pretty good but the service was extremely slow. They had one sushi chef and 1 server handling 5 tables. If you are more patient than most it is worth the wait. If you aren't, I'd try another place.
