Bidrage med feedbackTried them at a smogasborg 8 dollars for one taco and was not the best I've tried I asked why it was so expensive and was told because they use double tortilla not even 5 Puntos charges that much and the tortillas are handmade
The tacos are all made fresh, and the pork is hand-cut. I chose the green salsa, which had a bit of a kick but was absolutely delicious. Two tacos definitely weren't enough!
A friend of mine said they were the best carnitas ever after trying their Smorgasbord LA stand... (I think they were a new vendor there right before Covid) ...so I had to check out @loscochinitos_ for myself. LOCATION Hidden at the El Faro Swap Meet in East LA... the saying, the more dangerous the neighborhood the better the tacos applies. The street parking was brutal but there are a few parking lots nearby. Inside they had a lot of seating and 2 locations set up. THE MEATS BUCHE CON MACIZA TACO Large tacos! Pork stomach and skin meat mixed taco. Light in color, amazing texture and taste. Really delicious flavor. (5 5) TORTA AHOGADO WET TORTA SANDWICH This was orgasmic. This Guadalajaran style sandwich was nested in a lake of delicious mesquite red sauce that had soooo much flavor. It was a tantalizing sensation for my tastebuds. (5 5) TONGUE LENGUA TACO Great texture and seasoning. (4 5) TORTA DE SURTIDA Their regular dry sandwich. Bread was good, the Torta comes with bread and meat. (4 5) NEED TO TRY TRIPAS The window guy said to try it. CUERO CON MACIZA Pork Shoulder with skin. LOADED FRIES Basically carne asada fries with Carnitas instead. SURTIDO Try the actual meat. (Sample) CACHETE (cheeks) Tender and delicious, tastes like butter. CHICARRON FINAL THOUGHTS Not gonna lie... that BUCHE CON MACIZA taco was one of the best bites I 've ever taken. That pork stomach with the skin mixed in was soooo buttery and flavorful and textually delicious. Don 't let the $3.99 price tag fool you. These tacos were huge and crammed full with meat. They used large tortillas and the tacos had more than double, almost triple the amount of meat of a regular street taco. No skimping here. Two of these will fill you up if you 're big (I 'm 6 '3 , 225 lbs) and one of these will satisfy you if you 're small. If you 're curious what type of meat you 'd like, ask for a sample and they 'll give you a small piece of meat to try. The workers themselves were pretty cool. They were super busy yet took time to answer a couple question I had about which meat would be best. Overall they have a HUUUUUUGE variety of meats. The selection included about 15 or so different types and parts of carnitas including: skin, ear, lung, heart, cheeks, etc.You can even buy their meat by the pound. The guy who came over to help me (I think he may have been the owner) ...a small dude named Dilan, said they cater as well. Might have to have them cater my next house party when Covid ends.I ended up taking a pound of their mixed carnitas home with some tortillas. It 's among the best carnitas I 've ever had. These Michoacán style carnitas were loaded with flavor and super juicy. It was a very authentic experience and I felt like I was back in the streets of Mexico. I 'm definitely going to go back there and try more stuff. Usually when you see there 's a long line that 's a good sign... and they didn 't disappoint! The salsas were fresh and spicyThe food was super fresh and if you 're not sure what type of meat to get, ask for a sample and they will give you a small piece of meat to try. No skimping here. Two of these will fill you up if you 're big (I 'm 6 '3 , 225 lbs) and one of these will satisfy you if you 're small.
I should have saved my perfect five-star review for this restaurant instead! Their lechon tacos are amazing! They're made from various cuts of pork and served street-style. I highly recommend them if you love street tacos!
Los Cochinitos is a small taco stand located at Smorgasburg. On a scorching summer day, I stopped by a nearby food stall because I was thirsty and noticed they were offering aqua frescas. I decided to try the Pineapple Aqua Fresca ($5), but I found it to be very watered down. Just the day before, I had tried aqua fresca at another place in Grand Central Market, which was much more flavorful. I wouldn't recommend their diluted aqua frescas when there are better options available. I can't speak to the rest of their menu, though.
