Bidrage med feedbackWent here for lunch while in Venice for work. Place doesn’t look like much, but the food was actually pretty good. I had the build your own burrito with chicken, steak, rice, peppers, onions and cheese. The meat had good flavor and wasn’t overcooked. The peppers and onions weren’t overcooked and they actually tasted like peppers and onions. Overall, decent food at a decent price.
Tomatillo 's is one of my favorite local spots in Venice. There food has always been fresh and the quality is consistent! They truly embody the description of fresh Mex . My personal favorites are the Junk Yard Bowl and the beef Empanadas. But everything here is great and the food is always satisfying on hot Florida days.
Ordered a burrito. Tortilla was like raw dough. Refried beans had been sitting long enough for a skin to form on them. Unable to add onions and peppers because they appeared extremely overcooked. Lettuce not fresh. Spicy salsa not spicy and had an off putting acidic flavor. Had to request sour cream three times. A couple of bites in and gave up. I tossed it in the trash.
I live in Minnesota. Found Tomatillo's when stayed at Fairfield Inn across the street several years ago. Think of their soft shell tacos often. See them make it. Know eating healthy. So when I get to Florida a couple times a year, make a special trip to Tomatillo's even though I'm usually staying in Fort Myers. So worth the drive.
On our way to Tampa from Miami we found this great lunch spot. The staff is so very nice and the food was excellent. A casual place to sit inside or outside. Very clean and reasonable prices too. I highly recommend you stop here for lunch or dinner. Off of Interstate I75 exit 193. Stop here -you will be glad you did -great for families with children too.
