Bidrage med feedbackI ordered some rice pupusas to go and they were a huge disappointment. I’m not sure if the owners changed since it’s now called villa Latina but the food was terrible. The rice masa was old and stale. The pupusas were a lot smaller then usual and the filing lacked flavour, they were dry which is not typical) and hard to eat. I am Salvadorian and I can tell you that these were the worst pupusas I’ve ever had. I won’t be returning.
Location: on a busy street, with parking on the street depending of the hour Ambiance: The decor make it easy to imagine that you are in a small restaurant in central america. Food: Good home made food. Could not find anything wrong with the quality of food on my plate. Nice presentation, and tasting very good. buritos were served with rice and a tasty sauce. If you want to discover a new place, do not hesitate...this is the place to go. We will certainly go back to tate more of the San Salvadorian cuisine.
A group of 14 friends visited this restaurant and were warmly welcomed. The food was delicious, featuring Salvadorian, Tex-Mex, and Canadian cuisine. This cozy spot offers home-cooked meals and is run by just two staff members: the cook and the waiter/waitress. The service may be a bit slow, but that shouldn't stop you from enjoying a great meal.
The food was quite good we tried eating here because we heard of papusas on a TV show and found this restaurant. The bean soup was a great starter on a cold night, and our papusas were tasty (I preferred the cheese pork one to my wife's cheese and shrimp). We shared a plate of chorizo tacos which were deliciously fresh. On the down side, I found the service (though friendly) quite slow, which was odd give we were quite literally the only patrons. I'd be happy to come back and try something else another time!
El Tucan in Ontario is as close to authentic as it gets. The food is fresh, well-prepared, and truly original. While the restaurant may not look inviting at first glance, the cozy atmosphere inside is welcoming. It's a family-run business and the attention to service alone makes it worth returning to. After trying their famous 'Pupusas' on my first visit, I was hooked. Now, I can't visit Ottawa without stopping by El Tucan. I highly recommend it.
