Stopped here for lunch with my wife as we were in the area, and they had an Entertainment coupon. When we walked in, the server pointed us to an open table. She didn't come by with menus for about 5 minutes. We waited 10 minutes for our order to be taken. We ordered an appetizer platter and a curry dish. The curry dish with rice came first in about 10 minutes, and then the appetizer dish came out about 10 minutes after that. Bill took about 5 minutes to get. The server was nice enough, but she was the only server for the entire restaurant which was about half full when we left. It was defintely understaffed.Food:- Appetizer Platter: - Curry Fish Cake - OK - Thai Spring Rolls - Good, they tasted fresh and were crispy - Stuffed Chicken Wings - Also good, crisp skin - Jumbo Prawns in Blanket - Not great. They were a bit bitter. More for show. - Chicken Satay - OK. I like my satay thin and nicely grilled, but these were thick and not much sear on it. - Red Duck Curry with Lychee - Very good. Could use extra rice.Pay street parking available, and free residential parking if you're willing to walk.Overall, the food was pretty good, but the understaffing made it easy to lose patience with. Regular menu is a bit overpriced, but the Entertainment coupon brings it down to a resonable level. I might consider coming back, but I'd check if there are enough servers before I sit down.
Excellent. Up there with best Thai food I've tasted. Very authentic. The chef does a fantastic job and Prem the manager was exceptional at recommending dishes and ensuring a quality experience. Visited during lunch service and everyone was friendly, professional and very attentive. Above and beyond overall experience. Highly recommend. Too bad I live across the pond otherwise I'd visit often! Great job U and I! Reservations a must.
I decide to try U & I Thai for lunch since its in my neighborhood. I arrived just after opening and was seated right away. I decide on one of their lunch specials, but you can also order from the regular menu. I opted for the red curry chicken. Lunch specials include soup, salad crispy wonton wrappers and rice. The soup arrived first. The aroma was very pungent and had a nice balance of sweet, salty, spicy and sour. My order arrived shortly after. Judging by the taste, I could tell it was made fresh. It was not overly spicy but very satisfying. For $12.00 it was a bargain. I will come back to try some of their regular menu items.
We should have checked the hours beforehand but our impromptu party of 5 arrived at 8:45 PM on a Saturday night thinking they would be open later. We were told they closed at 9 PM and didn't want to seat us but offered to make take-out which we accepted. They were nice enough and even through in 5 spring rolls no charge. Bonus! By this time we were all famished so the food tasted pretty darn good.
