The Poke Guy - Vancouver

This is an awesome concept! Pick your own everything and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Fresh fish and veggies. I loved the addition of mango and wakame. Amazing place for everyone who loves poke!

I only discovered this at the end of my stay. Otherwise I would have eaten lunch here more than once. Raw fish cubes (ahi and salmon), on rice or greens. Avocado optional. Various veggies included. It was great. Only open for lunch, really (11:30-5:30, I think).

Poke has established itself as the new trend in lunch food in Vancouver. This place specializes in poke bowls. The idea goes as follows:1. You choose your size 2 scoops or three scoops of poke2. You choose your poke - albacore tuna, sockeye salmon, etc...3 You decide if you want white or brown rice and/or salad4. You then choose your toppings, as many as six - different types of chopped up vegetables, seaweed and other things.5 You choose the type of crispy things to put on top, fried garlic, shallots, etc. 6. You choose your sauce - different types of dressingTwo things make this a great choice for lunch. First and foremost it is one of the healthier options you'll find, the second and more important is the flavour. It tastes excellent! Make sure to check this place out!

This is my first taste of poke, and I was missing out before! The Poke Guy gave a good introduction to the dish - fresh, nicely marinated fish (choice of ahi, albacore, sockeye, lomi lomi and scallop) with a variety of toppings such as edamame, mango, mori, avocado, imitation crab. I had mine with rice, but they also have the option to add salad. All the flavours went really well together, and it was very filling. While the meal was a bit pricey at $14 for the Lil Guy (two scoops of fish and five toppings), I will definitely keep it in mind as it was a nice treat.
