Bidrage med feedbackThe corner of Joyce and Wellington (near the Joyce Skytrain Station) seems to be the Bermuda triangle for restaurants… I’ve seen numerous restaurants come and go in this one spot. It’s a shame because I’ve liked most of the past restaurants. Recently, a new sushi joint (of course) opened up here called Sushi Taku and I picked up some items for take-out back in February.
This place just opened up a little while ago and I've been eager to try it out. Right when you walk in you receive a very warm welcome. We received our food right away and the presentation was excellent. The quality of the sushi rolls was very good. I was very impressed. It was delicious! I had the chicken roll, dragon roll, and collingwood roll. The gyoza was a nice crispy addition. They were very friendly and I will definitely go back. Excellent price and top quality food.
Just got take out. The roll bento is a really good deal! Very generous tempura and California roll portions. You get 8 pieces instead of the usual 6. Only small complaint is that the teriyaki could use a bit more sauce, slightly dry. Will come back to try some special rolls too!
As others have mentioned, this is a newly opened sushi joint that is only a 30 second walk from the Joyce skytrain station. I decided to visit with a few friends last week with no particular expectations other than to check it out for a quick dinner, and I'm very glad we did. The interior is clean and minimal, with simple decor. It is a very small restaurant seating only a maximum of about 25 people, which wasn't a problem for me I personally take this as a great sign, the best gems always seems to be from these hole in the wall restaurants. Staff was very friendly and greeted us warmly before seating us. <br/ <br/ We ordered a few specialty roles such as the dragon roll and taku toll as well as some basic nigiris and standard rolls. The quality of sushi was incredibly fresh and the prices were VERY reasonable. The seasoning on the sushi rice was perfect in acidity and was cooked to perfection warm and soft and but not disintegrating when you pick it up. Every roll we had was delicious but what really impressed me was the quality and freshness of the fish they used. Will definitely visit again and is definitely the best of the sushi joints in the joyce collingwood area (hyago is great but pricey, kishu river is awful, and van ya has gone downhill in recent years after changing owners). DEFINITELY GIVE THEM A TRY. Took half a point off for seating accommodation but definitely worth it to wait or to get take out!
Salmon combo, fresh and really good. Ebi Sunomono was good, which was nice because it's hard to find good sunomono. Green salad was good with avocado slices, peppers etc...but, the dressing was NOT good. Not the usual Japanese dressing. My husband says the tempura and chicken teriyaki was good but they forgot our tempura sauce. I would go again!
