Bidrage med feedbackThe owners are friendly and nice, the prices are reasonable, and the sushi is delicious. I have been coming here for a couple of years and it has always been consistently good.
I look for high quality-to-price ratios, and Jako delivers splendidly. The Sushi is mediocre, and it's very cheap by downtown standards. I eat here regularly.
Delicious, had the Sunshine and Davie roll. would recommend. pretty humble aesthetics, but the staff are super friendly and helpful. relatively quiet for lunch so no problems getting a seat.
I've been coming here frequently for a few years now and with these prices and this type of freshness, it can't really be beat. The fish and seafood are fresh, the prices are remarkably low, and the quality is amazing. They're also very good at altering orders if you have intolerance, allergies, or just dislike something. They'll also make to order some of your favorite rolls (eg; I love the Sunshine roll, but as I'm allergic to any sort of peppers, I get it with mayo and no cucumbers instead of spicy sauce). They're also very good at remembering faces/patrons and have a congenial attitude and personality. <br/ <br/ For price and quality, it's really hard to beat, particularly in the downtown core. Easy to access and I get mine to go to enjoy at home.
The service was good. The chef in the kitchen personally served the food, engaging in friendly conversation with regular customers. He also delivered my meal with a smile, something the female server could learn from. The Teriyaki Chicken Bento for $6.95 was a great deal. The assorted tempura that accompanied it was slightly warm, suggesting it had been sitting for a while. It appeared a bit brown, hinting that the oil may not have been fresh. The teriyaki chicken was a tad dry but still flavorful, although I felt there was an excess of sauce. The miso soup lacked tofu or greens but was not overly salty. The Spicy Scallop Cone was the largest I've ever had at a Japanese restaurant and was unique in that it included tempura flakes for added crunch. Despite its name, it wasn't too spicy.
