Al Porto - Vancouver

We went for Dine Out 2023 but ended up eating off the menu. I had my heart set on treating my dad to the Alaskan king crab

We were a party of 6, friends getting together to celebrate a birthday. The server was excellent, kind with attention to detail. He also new the wine and food on the menu well and could answer all questions with authority. Food was, as always, perfectly prepared with an interesting selection on the menu. We won't hurried to vacate for another party and reassured upon arrival that this was our table for the evening. All in all, a perfect dinner.

Two of the steaks my friends ordered were severely uncooked, blue raw when they asked for medium. After mentioning and showing it to our server, they seemed annoyed and threw it back on to cook further rather than making her a new meal. Neither of the meals were discounted or comped and were left nearly untouched. The same guest then ordered a desert and was served the wrong desert but did not even bother to mention it as her meal had been so poorly cooked earlier and she did not want further bother our server. Beautiful ambience and space but everyone is my party’s food was rather mediocre or not properly prepared.

Spaghetti carbonara was incredible, the pizza, fantastic. Drinks were great, our waiter was probably the best I’ve ever had, we were never without something. Would highly recommend and will definitely go back.

The food is always very good, and the ambience is perfect. Our waiter was amazing and treated us very well during our visit. We’ve been eating here for years, and still make the hour long drive to visit this restaurant on special occasions. Highly recommended.
