Black Angus Tavern Grille - Van Wert

We came here after a show at the Niswonger Center. The service was very slow and we were sitting for an hour and a half before our appetizer came out. The food was decent, what you'd expect from a small town independent restaurant.

Food is always good but it seems like they're always out of something I want to order. Server was great and beer was frosty

The only food that was good was the onion rings. The steak was well done I wanted medium rare and the burger was burnt. The service was sad never really came back but to give the check. The table was dirty and so was the menus.

I ordered Riley steak dinner. It came with a salad. The salad was the bagged shredded lettuce, some shredded cheese and croutons, and my dressing came in a to go cup with a lid. The mashed potatoes tasted like instant mash potatoes. I wanted to order a sweet potato but they had no butter only margarine. No bread no dinner rolls. The veggies were a California mix that looked like the bagged microwave ones. Nothing about this dinner was homemade and I cld have bought at walmart and made myself . The steak was cooked to order. I asked for a box when the waitress dropped off the check she said she wld be right back. 20 min later of her talking and standing behind the bar socializing I finally went up and asked for my box and to pay my bill. I have had the occupation of a waitress for over 10y not now but she obviously didn't want a tip. U take care of your people which obviously she didn't do. She never questions when we didn't eat the food. I will never go back there complete waste of my money for a micro meal and even worse unhealthy. And I didn't see a salad bar. The dining area was bright with outdated seating

My husband and I have never been here. I found it on Google and decided to bring my husband for dinner. When we walked in, we stood at the podium that said to wait to be seated for quite some time. Several employees walked by, looked right at us, and didn’t say a word. No greeting, no “someone will be with you”, nothing. Finally, the host sat us and took our drink order. Our waitress came over a little while later and we ordered the pulled pork nachos as an appetizer. After the app came out, we were practically done before our waitress even came back to take our order. While we were waiting to order, there was a table of ladies next to us. One of the ladies ordered a taco salad which came out with no taco meat only lettuce. My husband and I both ordered burgers, and as we were waiting for those to come out, our drinks sat empty for a good 30 minutes (if not longer) before our waitress came around again and noticed our empty drinks. She said she was going to get us refills then disappeared for another 15 20 minutes. When she finally came back with our drinks, she said, “I had to step outside to get a breath of fresh air… sorry”. I’m not sure what a busy night looks like at Black Angus, but I didn’t feel like it seemed busy in the slightest. When our burgers finally came out, they were very good; however, the fact that we were there for over 1.5 hours is outrageous. When we were waiting for our bill, another waitress was saying to a child that was in the restaurant, “Only babies cry, are you a baby?” a handful of times. I’m not sure who the child was to her, but she was saying this loud enough for us to hear from across the restaurant. The food was very good, but the service was EXTREMELY slow and pretty unprofessional.
