Rifugio Pizzini - Valfurva

Had a great stay at Rifugio Pizzini recently, incredible ski mountaineering terrain and Claudio and Mauro will make you feel welcome with great food, drink and company.

Great place to stay. Very nice host and good food. Ideal situation an easy 2 hours walk from Rifugio Forni. And ideal for making trips in the area or continue to the other rifugios in the area. We were there in September where it just started to snow. And I had to stay over 3 days because of pneumonia. But I felt welcome and had I nice stay recovering before I could walk down again. Really recommendable all times of year.

Pizzini is a great place for spring access to ski mountaineering peaks. The hut is very comfortable and has a laid-back atmosphere, with exceptionally friendly and hard working staff. It's on the power grid and has hot/cold running water. Breakfast is anytime after 6 am. Some of the rooms have private showers. We also enjoyed a wood-fired sauna one afternoon (give them a couple hours warning to get it fired up). You can buy a sandwich to take skiing, and they'll fill your thermos up with tea also. The storage and drying area for ski gear is very well organized, and they have plenty of hut shoes. Yes, it's a bit pricy. But it's at 2700 m, and it's quite an effort to get food up there. Forget the price, and enjoy a cold beer on the sunny deck!
