Bidrage med feedbackThe wife and I ate here last month. Good location in central Valence and with a decent menu and wine selection. For two people, the bill came to 70€ for two courses plus a half bottle of red wine.Decor was lovely and service was prompt, although I was a bit baffled by the techno music chosen for 'ambience'. Perhaps I'm justing getting old ...Anyway, one to recommend.
Recommended by the chef of "La petite fabrique" who was exceptionally closed for that day. So we went and found this nice local restaurant. Once inside we were the only tourists most of the clients were locals which was a good sign for us. Food was great and not overpriced unlike other restaurants. A really nice experience.
Easy to miss this charming little restaurant as you walk along the pedestrianised Grand Rue. Cosy atmosphere, friendly service and excellent, simply but well presented food based on locally sourced produce. Exceptionally good value.
I have visited Valence at least once a year since 1980 and have always been impressed by the food. This year, I visited Le Grand Rue, which used to be known as One, Two, Tea, and tried the moules. They were fantastic - and very plentiful - it took me twice as long to finish my meal, as my friends who had steaks!! It is just along from the Maison de Tetes and, at lunch time , is well worth a visit. As far as I know, it is still the only restaurant in Valence to serve Brezeme - a superb wine from a vineyard just south of Valence. The red has always been excellent, but this year I tried the white, which complemented the mussels perfectly. The staff were very friendly and were happy to stay on whilst we finished the meal with cheese and coffee. I will be back next year!!
From the outside the restaurant looked quaint and rustic so we booked for dinner on a Friday night as evening opening hours are limited.Starter of wok cooked prawns was good the main - a scallop pie looked excellent but the scallops were totally overcooked. The sauce and pastry were good but that was not reason for choosing this dish.Staff were very helpful and service efficient.
