Il Cavallino - VALEGGIO SUL MINCIO

Very cozy and romantic atmosphere, delicious dinner and friendly staff! Their wine from Il Cavallino was amazing as well, would recommend. We enjoyed a live band here.

The restaurant offers Italian food in a very high level. Delicious and wonderful. Staff very pleasant and courteous. Worthwhile!

This restaurant is owned by two ladies who share the front and kitchen duties. We had their tortellini to start with and had to ask for more. I make pasta myself and have never had anything so light and delicate. I asked the cook/owner how she did it after the meal was over, and she came to our table and gave me her recipe, including a kilo of the special flour that she uses. This only happens in restaurants in Italy. The rest of the meal was as good as the pasta. The restaurant has some wonderful trump l'oeil paintings on the wall. The old town of Valegio sul Mincio is worth stopping in. There are water mills on the river (the Mincio), waterfalls, gardens and some great old buildings.

Then, I make a small premise to make you understand how I value public exercises and not that I visited and tried. There is no parameter only to judge. it is not enough that the food is good and presented well, it is not enough that the place is perfect...the friendly and helpful staff. you need all the complete picture and sometimes believe me, even some sensations are enough to change the vote of or stars...more or less. I give you the example of wine: a bottle of wine from with the right company, will be more good than one from with the wrong people. I can't give the stars for a few details in the preparation of the cacio and pepper, even if cooked well, slightly untied and with little taste. a little bit of character was missing. Besides the sweets, a little too exciting, missing that velvet pinch that cuddles you and takes your senses. for the rest, all set: good tortellini, good meat both of chicken and of beef and good contours in general. good wines of the house. fast service and friendly staff. clean, neat and welcoming environment. enveloping and homely. well cared for everything. location practically close to the valeggio center. moderate prices. Anyway, I suggest we try it.
