The Smoke Shack Bbq - Valdez

I was in town over the weekend and read the few reviews about this purported gem. Naturally, I went all in and ordered their sampler platter; this was undoubtedly the best culinary decision I've made in recent memory. I hardly know anything about BBQ, but this was one amazing meal. Everything was cooked to perfection and the brisket in particular is one of the best things I've had the pleasure of eating. Of all the eateries in town, this place is easily #1 for me. Literally the only downside to this establishment is that it's a five hour drive from where I live. Did I mention they threw in a treat for my dog and seem like excellent folks?

Best BBQ I've had in Alaska and best pecan pie I've had in my life ! They gave our kiddos free mac and cheese meals. Cool and friendly owner too. Do yourself a favor and try their food.

Who would have thought that this girl from Texas would find some delicious BBQ in the great state of Alaska! The smoked brisket had a beautiful smoke ring and melted in my mouth. The pulled pork was to die for, BUT the real surprise was the smoked drummies...OMG, they are delicious! Seriously, I think I had 4 of these myself. All the sides that I tasted that came with the Big Bubba platter were tasty and good, my favorite being the baked beans which you could tell were cooked in the smoker in a pan under the meat so that they were seasoned with smoked drippings! I will definitely be hitting this little spot on every trip to Valdez!

As a Texan, I never turn down the opportunity at BBQ. It's particularly hard to come by in Alaska, so when I came across the Smoke Shack I gave it a try. I ordered the Little Bubba special which included a 1/2 lb of pulled pork, a side (I went with the beans), and a corn bread muffin. The portion was ample and price was excellent! The pulled pork was moist and paired well with the sauce. The beans and muffin were also yummy! All that and fast, friendly service...what's not to love!

DELICIOUS! Not on the main strip but so worth a try! We got the Big Bubba platter to try everything. My favorite was the pulled pork, chicken and rub on the ribs. But eveything was good! We 'll be back.
