Le Comptoir des Voconces

Had low expectations, but was pleasantly surprised.

It's really hard to tell whether a restaurant is fabulous, or if it simply satisfies an intense need for nourishment after a long bike ride in Provence.

Woke up late, blew off breakfast, and hiked and toured Sablet and Seguret, before arriving in Vaison La Romain hungry as bears.

Considering the town was over-run with Les Chorelies (an extra 7000 people,) the staff did really well to attend to all the diners waiting patiently for their tables and food.Plenty to chose from from Steak, Pizzas, FIsh, Burgers etc. Reasonably priced and huge portions.Pork was tender and delicious, Gallettes cooked to perfection, Burgers juicy and can highly recommend the goats cheese selection.This side of the square is over-run with over- priced and average food/service, however this restaurant is an exception.

This restaurant was very busy in the middle of the day for everybody enjoying lunch. My husband had lasagna and I had meat. The waiter was very busy but accommodated my broken French. The atmosphere was relaxing and was good for people watching.
