Bidrage med feedbackWe had such a lovely lunch in this beautiful place. It was so nice to show that place to my Dutch friends who visited Västervik for the weekend. Everyone is very helpful and friendly. The food is super tasty and the view over the bay is speechless! I definitely recommend that place in Västervik
Västervik is a cute small town on the Swedish coast. Having travelled to small towns for weekends trips and vacations most of my life, my experience is usually that you can't have the same expectations regarding hotels and food as you might have in larger cities. On this behalf, Slottsholmen is a huge and very positive surprise, which is the reason we have come back several times. The hotel is fantastic with comfortable beds, great views, helpful and friendly staff. It's family run (not a chain which explains the love for details. We have stayed in both a suite and in a room on the floating hotel, both is highly recommendable, depending on how much space you'd like. The restaurant is one of it's kind in Västervik and probably the best place to eat in this whole part of Sweden. The quality of the meals is high and they focus on local produce. An ambitious kitchen in the countryside, really wow! The breakfast buffet is one of the best we've ever had (from salmon to homemade bread to very good teas to freshly made waffles... and it's included when you stay at Slottsholmen. Also worth mentioning is the gym (included , it's very good and offers lots of options for exercising. Local highlights: Visfestivalen (music festival , Warmbadhuset (spa , trails along the coast and in nearby forests, boat trips watersports... A perfect spot to relax and enjoy both the summer and the off-season. Would we come back again? Definitely!
We stayed in a double room on the floating part. The room looked nice and the bed was very comfy. The Marshall speaker located in the room was a pleasant surprise, although the Bluetooth connection guide was incomplete. Guests with the some technical knowledge will most likely solve how to connect the speaker to the phone anyway. The TV was quite small (32 considered the distance to the bed, but on the other hand would not a bigger fit on the wall. The TV had Chromecast connection. The shower contained both a shower head and rain. British guest would most likely complain about a missing teapot in the room, but this could be found in the corridor on second floor. We had a dinner at the restaurant which was good, same was the breakfast with several varieties.
Västervik is a very nice, little town with a southern Swedish climate, offering especially good circumstances for boat lovers. Slottsholmen is a place with some of the best surprises a hotel can offer: a talkative, friendly and knowledgeable sommelier, an extraordinary cuisine lammytterfilé was unbelievably well steaked and seasoned , of course fine sorts of wine, gratis 'mini bar ' in the room, very fine body lotion, soap cream and shampoo from the label L:a Bruket. They have both a nice placement on the shore and a terrass with site on the town over the vik sea gulf, fine conference room for company meetings and an ownership that emanates from the band ABBA. The only point that was hard to digest was the lövbiff sliced beef steak 's one half of one of the slices being chewy. Count also with a smaller variety than in a big city restaurang. They offer only their best. They offer vegetarian food, but if you are a nutritionally demanding person, you will regard the food as boomer heritage (begging the excuse of the age group it 's the second half of the XXth century that is blamed not them): much sugar, too little vegetables, focused on red meat, lacking both egg and lean food rich in protein, while suprisingly still offering flakes of the types rich in added sugar instead of rich only in fiber. They are very keen on their high quality: perhaps the concept has been updated before your next trip to the place. Check it out!
Nice atmosphere and well done cocktails, and interesting snax.
