Bidrage med feedbackThis restaurant is absolutely awful. The owner was extremely rude and unpleasant, lacking any manners or understanding of customer service. The beer and food were terrible as well. I highly recommend avoiding this place and warning everyone you can.
I went to this restaurant with some friends to have a few drinks. The atmosphere is great, especially with the sports playing. The prices are reasonable. TJ, the pub dog, is adorable and very friendly. The staff are always friendly and quick to take drink orders. The music is great. Even the bathrooms are impressive - the men's has deodorant and the women's have all sanitary products and are well-maintained and smell amazing. You won't find the same level of service and atmosphere in cheaper options. Overall, this pub is amazing and I would highly recommend it.
I stopped by my new local pub last week for a quick drink on my own. I had hoped for a friendly atmosphere, but the landlord was a bit grumpy and more interested in talking to his regulars about his real ale expertise. The beer was decent but not outstanding. The pub was fairly busy for the time of week, but the smell of dog on the seat I was sitting on was a major downside. It seems the pub dog has free rein, which might not appeal to everyone. Perhaps some air fresheners or upholstery spray could fix the issue. I might try the Old English Gentleman next week for a change of scenery. The walk into town will be good for me.
The Axe can vary from being a comfortable convenient pub where friends can go for a drink and a chat. There's usually a good range of beers and ciders. At the other extreme Friday nights can be dominated by loud music and noisy young men who seem incapable of having a couple of drinks and talking; instead they shout at their friends as if they were across the road , rather than a few inches away. This is a pity, because as individuals they are usually polite. The staff at the pub are attentive and friendly, coping cheerfully in busy periods.
The Axe changed hands a few months ago, and the new Licencees have transformed the place. The public bar is light and airy, everything’s clean and redecorated; but the key feature of the Axe is the lovely garden, plenty of outside space, with planters, trees and floral hanging baskets. On top of this, is the warm welcome you’ll receive. Well done Jeff and Debs on a complete transformation! You’ve put The Axe back on the map.
