Bidrage med feedbackWe stopped by Fatty's for a drink after a long day in the sun. This bar is located on the second floor above a pizza place. We arrived just in time to take advantage of the happy hour drink specials. My husband was in the mood for a piña colada, but since they don’t have a blender for frozen drinks, he went with a Pain Killer instead, which turned out to be quite good. Keep in mind that this is a dive bar. It features one pool table, a few slot machines, Nintendo and PlayStation games, and a swinging ring toss game. We opted to sit on the balcony, enjoying the view of the bustling street below. The balcony was decorated with colorful Christmas lights, which added a nice touch, and there was a large mural of the islands. We only stayed for one drink, but it was a pleasant experience.
I ordered from here for the first time tonight and I had a great experience! The staff was very friendly, and the food was simply incredible!
The drinks are excellent, and the bartenders in the evening are incredibly friendly and approachable. The music they play adds to the atmosphere, making it even better! The open seating area is perfect for people-watching around Red Hook, and it’s a great spot for friends who smoke since you’re outside already. They have a decent number of tables, so you can usually find a place to sit, whether at a table or the bar. There's a pool table that gets plenty of action, and the other night we were treated to karaoke, which was definitely a fun addition! While it has a slightly gritty vibe, I didn’t care for it when I first moved here, but it’s grown on me over time, and now I truly enjoy it. I’ve had some fantastic experiences here, and I’m quite attached to the place—it definitely has its own charm! On top of that, I actually enjoy their food as well! My personal favorite is the Cuban Quesadilla, which is like a Cuban sandwich but in quesadilla form, and it’s fantastic! It comes with sour cream, and I order it almost every time I visit. Yes, it’s a bit greasy and definitely falls into the pub food category, but it’s delicious! I highly recommend giving it a try; it’s one of my favorites!
The highlight of our visit to Fatboys was watching the bartenders create a contraption for a game called “Icing.” They fashioned a pulley system with string, duct tape, and some gear to lower a bottle of Smirnoff into someone’s reach—BAM! You’ve been Iced! Hilariously, during a test run, one of the bartenders ended up getting hit in the face with the bottle (black eye and all), which was unfortunate for him but very amusing for us. You really can’t make this stuff up!
"It's definitely a dive bar, but the bartender was incredibly friendly. The boneless tenders were delicious—clearly not from a bag of frozen, pre-made options—but rather seemed to be freshly hand-breaded and just the right amount of breading, which I really appreciate. The view of the street offered great people-watching opportunities. Considering what this place is (not a fancy venue), it's quite enjoyable."
