Bidrage med feedbackI can't believe I'm so good. I've been living in the area for years and had this for the first time. Probably one of the underestimated restaurants in the entire Urbana-Champaign area. When someone from Brazil I will say these flavors reminded me of home a little. I had the oxtail with beans and rice, a side of fried plantains, beef cakes, ginger tea and beignets. Everything was on the spot, tasty and fresh. If you have not tried sambique food before and you enjoy Mexican or general Latin American flavors, this will meet a lot of this desire. If you are still not sure whether to go, remember that this is the ONLY Sambische restaurant throughout North America, so enjoy an experience that few had/will have the pleasure.
I go to this restaurant as often as possible! If you have not tried sub-Saharan African food, this is an excellent place to start. Your Nshima is a booklet in this part of the world; a corn-based starch that fits well with meat dishes. Their freshly squeezed ginger drink is the real deal, and they can either put their spicy sauce on the side or mix into food if you want. Good stuff!
Five stars. This is the kind of food that makes your soul happy. It's warm, secret, tasteful. Everything is cooked to absolute perfection, tender with love and care to every dish and ingredient. If you're not here yet and you live in the area, that's a must try! Plantains, beef, Nshima, everything is good, you won't go wrong!
It was a nice step change to try a new cultural style of food. The best part, in my opinion, was the way every court was strangled. Fantastic flavors I wish I knew how to make home.
I'm very happy to see them expanding their menu since I first came here. Their staff is always friendly and happy to explain their authentic dishes. Try the ginger juice!
